Ichiban Omelette

This is my almost 11 year old daughters concoction .. for breakfast!

She prepared the Ichiban noodles as per the package .. draining all the water.
Then she put the noodles in a frypan and added 2 beaten eggs .. she added ketchup popcorn seasoning (!!!???), some parsley (IMPRESSED BY THIS because she doesn't DO green stuff.. ever!) chopped leftover chicken and cut up a slice of processed swiss cheese on the top then she cooked the omelette over medium heat until the eggs were set, et voila!

I didn't taste it, but she really enjoyed it!

My daughter had a friend sleepover last night and I was the "best momma in the worllllld" and made them a yummy breakfast this morning.

They hashbrowns patties are in the oven ;)


Mediterranean Chicken Skewers


Dinner Tonight...

Spaghetti Bolognese...click pictures to bigify

Mix it all up...:

3/4 lb Ground beef
7 oz Prosciutto - diced
26 oz can Crushed tomatoes
8 oz can of tomato sauce
Tomato paste
Italian seasoning
Garlic slivers
Red chili flakes
Onion - diced

Brown the ground beef....after it's browned add the Prosciutto and brown it as well. Add all ingredients.

Let it simmer for a long time...

A coworker and I went to our favorite Pho restaurant thursday evening for dinner. I had the larger size with rare beef on the side. I like to put it in the bowl and stir it around myself so it's not clumped up.

On The Menu Tonight

Kobe beef brisket marinating in extra virgin olive oil, garlic, chili pepper flakes, mirin, freshly cracked black pepper.....to be served with jasmine rice, freshly sliced onions and mushrooms sauteed in a smidge of butter.

I was in the mood for a vegetarian dinner, and came up with this very quickly. I was so happy with it I just had to take a picture! :-)

Baked beans, rice, swiss chard with sauteed onions, and corn on the cob. Yum!

This is one of my favorite Lean Cuisines. Chicken Marsala. Only 3 points!

It's big lunch day since I won't have dinner until 7:30 or so tonight.
By then I'll be STARVING.

Thin slices of top sirloin, zucchini and celery sauteed in Kikkoman's Garlic & Herb marinade. Noodles tossed in chili oil, shoyu, red chili flakes. Baby Roma tomatoes and baby cucumbers in mirin, olive oil and a smidge of sesame oil.

We tested out our new Lodge cast-iron charcoal grill. We bought it last year and it's been sitting in the box in the living room. Ginger will miss her perch.

When all else fails -- cook!

Plenty o' rice with a side of ginger. Thinly sliced top round steak simmered slowly in my super secret garlic spicy sauce that does look like motor oil, doesn't it sistermaryeris? A side car of baby cucumbers tossed in mirin, olive oil, sesame oil and red chili flakes. Cherry tomatoes top it.

This is something you definitely have to start eating at an early age. The pungent aroma would probably put you off otherwise. Think of a 12 year old boy's tennis shoes on a hot day...after they've gotten wet.

Anyway, this is one of my favorite things and I like the picture as it's quite bubbly.

Sidecar: Fresh strawberries sliced thinly and sprinkled with baker's sugar.

Main: Paper-thin slices of pork cooked almost crispy in a hoisin sauce with red chili flakes tossed in for good measure. Hidden under the kitty pick -- Japanese cucumbers in red wine vinegar, extra virgin olive oil, and a few spices....also some spicy takuan. Lots of gohan and a bit of beni shoga.

Bento for July 14

I love futzing around in the kitchen. I whipped this up for lunch tomorrow. I tend to cook specific meals for lunch separate from dinner -- I'm not big into leftovers.

Ground chicken sauteed in Lee Kum Kee Chili Black Bean Sauce. Whole grain thin spaghetti with nori and green onions sprinkled on it.
